Craps is a very fun game and as most people know, it is a pure game of chance. However, whenever you have more information about something and go into it with your eyes wide open you have a better chance of profiting. In a game of chance, you best strategy is to know the probability of the numbers coming up. Craps is a easy game to learn and once you get it down, its easy money. The game is played with 2 dice and it consists of a player rolling the dice trying to get certain numbers and combinations! Other players at the table can place bets even when they are not the roller. Once you have crapped out the dice go to the next roller, of course it is always optional, so you never have to touch the dice if you don't want to.

When just beginning to learn how to play Craps, the first thing you need to know is that it may not take long for you to win, in fact, you can win on the first roll! Your probability of getting 7 or 11 is 8/36 or about 22%, you can also win if you roll a total of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10! In craps if you are not the roller you can bet with the roller by putting your money on the pass line! You are making what is known as a pass bet, the probability of winning a pass bet is 49.29%. The Rules of Craps

It is not hard to play Craps, now playing Craps well is a whole different subject all together. Craps is played on a bowl style table with usually 2 to 3 dealers and players crowded around. One of the players will be the roller(as mentioned before, the roller gets to roll until they crap out at which point bets are cleared and the dice are passed) and the other players at the table will have the choice to bet with or against the roller. Once all players have made their wagers, he player with the dice will roll the 2 dice, if they roll a 7 or 11 on the first roll they will instantly win, however if they roll a 2, 3 or 12 on the first roll they will lose. If they roll any of the field numbers(4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) that will become the player's point. A point is the number that the player must now roll again before rolling a 7.

Craps Probabilities - Pass bet

The pass line is the most popular bet in Craps and you will see nearly every player at the table will bet on it. The pass line is an even money bet and you can all you have to do to make this bet is put your chips on the pass line area on the table on a come out roll. If a 7 comes out you win, if a point comes out your bet stays and if a 2, 3 or 12 come and you have bet on the pass line you will lose that bet. If any point is rolled on the come out roll and if the point is rolled again before a 7 you win. If a 7 comes before the point you will lose also! Once you understand the pass line bet you are ready to play Craps.

Craps Probabilities - Buying the Odds

Once a point has been thrown, you may bet up to 2 times your pass line bet on the odds, the odds are simply another wager that the point will be rolled before a 7, because the probability of the point being rolled first is less than fifty percent, you will win more than you bet if it does happen.

Craps Probabilities - Don’t Come Bet

The “don’t pass” is the exact opposite of the pass line bet. If the come out roll is a 2 or 3 then you will win, however if the player rolls a 7 or 11 on the first roll you will lose and the number 12 is a push! Otherwise the dice are rolled over and over until either the point or a 7 is rolled, if the 7 comes before the point you will win that roll.

Craps Probabilities - Laying the Odds

This is the opposite of buying odds in other words betting that a 7 will be rolled before the point;

If the point is a 4 or 10 the don’t odds pay 1:2
If the point is a 5 or 9 the don’t odds pay 2:3
If the point is 6 or 8 the don’t odds pay 5:6

Craps Probabilities - Buy Bets

This is just the same as the place bet only with a different payoff, the player may buy any of the points (4 5 6 8 9 and 10 which means to bet that the number will be rolled before a 7, and when making a buy bet you must pay 4 % commission and your bet will pay fair odds if it wins. Fair odds are 2:1 on the 4 and 10, 3:2 on the 5 and 9 and 6:5 on the 6 and 8.
